Vitaly Borker, an online eyeglasses store owner, was arrested and charged with mail fraud and wire fraud after he harassed and cheated his customers. Despite previously serving a five-year sentence after an identical crime, Borker went straight back to bullying clients before he was officially freed. In an interview in 2010 slightly before his first arrest, he claimed that Google searches don’t differentiate between positive and negative reviews, so the more negative feedback he received, the better his business did. Mental health experts provided by the court agreed that Mr. Borker showed symptoms of bipolar disorder, narcissism, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, which may suggest that some of these behaviors may be out of his control.
