Epic Pass holders at various ski resorts across the U.S. have expressed their frustration with idled lifts, limited services, and closed terrain after Omicron Covid cases caused a shortage of employees. However, the primary source of the shortage may be from a recent spike in mountain real estate and rental prices which has resulted in a lack of affordable housing for staff members. To combat this, some multi-area operators have increased their minimum wages, offered additional bonuses, and aim to offer employee housing options.

 

Suppressing Negative Reviews

Fashion Nova, a fast-fashion clothing website, is required to pay $4.2million after suppressing negative reviews from customers, resulting in a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. Reviews that were under a four out of five star rating were held for approval before being published, while the higher ratings were published immediately. “Deceptive review practices cheat consumers, undercut honest businesses and pollute online commerce,” – Samuel Levine, director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
